Milo

Milo – A Fighter Who Deserved a Second Chance at Life 🐾❤️

Milo’s journey began in July, when he was found collapsed near a lake – motionless, wounded, and starving. A beautiful Labrador, likely abandoned by his family after falling ill. His body was just skin and bones, covered in open wounds. Despite countless pleas, no one came to help him.

We couldn’t walk away.

Though overwhelmed with other cases and financial struggles, we brought him to the vet. The diagnosis was devastating: leishmaniasis, anaplasmosis, and a broken leg. The cost of treatment was high, and for a moment, we even discussed euthanasia. But we couldn’t let him go without trying. We named him Milo, and thanks to the kindness of Dr. Martini, his treatment began.

Hope Through Pain

By August, Milo had completed his leishmaniasis treatment and was healing well. Due to the risk of spreading infection, he spent one month in quarantine at a paid shelter before joining the others in our care. We implemented strict hygiene protocols to protect our 50 other dogs — every life matters.

Though Milo’s physical wounds healed, his journey was far from over.

A New Battle

In January 2025, we noticed abnormal swelling in Milo’s abdomen. After urgent testing, he was diagnosed with an enlarged heart. This condition requires daily medication for the rest of his life.

Despite everything, Milo remains gentle, loving, and full of life. What he needs now more than ever is:

Daily medication
Ongoing veterinary care
A safe and warm forever home
Unconditional love

Milo’s Current Medication:

  • Vetmedin – 2 x 10mg daily

  • Cardalis – 2 x 10mg daily

  • Furosemide – 2 x 160mg daily (human pharmacy)

We saved Milo once — and he survived because someone believed in him.

Now, in one of his most vulnerable moments, please help us not to fail him.

Don’t let Milo fight this battle alone.
Be part of his second chance. 💔
